1) In your opinion, what were the most significant strengths of the Program?

• Diversity of participants & program variety; diversity of energy sites & issues; timeliness of topics.
• Each topic addressed at an understandable and practical level.
• Underground coal mine; drilling rig.
• Hands on experience.
• Small group allowed interaction.
• Speaking with folks on the ground, seeing the work involved, & precautions taken.
• Knowledgeable staff; interaction with staff.
• Felt safe always.
• John Rold and the rolling commentary; John Rold is a national treasure!
• A picture is worth a thousand words, but a field trip experience can change perceptions for a lifetime.

2) In your opinion, what were the most significant weaknesses of the Program?

• Too many PowerPoint® presentations.
• Sites with nothing going on.
• Lack of diversity of perspectives (more about environmental/community issues).
• Some speakers were provocative and openly hostile, thus wasting their opportunity to make their point; need balance of demogogues.
• Too much in one day [leading to schedule slippage] - but wouldn't have wanted to miss any sites, either!
• Did not stick to schedule.
• Lack of a facilitated issue discussion earlier in the week; lacked organized discussions among participants.
• Would have preferred more senior level policy making staff in attendance.
• Double rooms.

3) Any additional comments?

• Overall, a fantastic trip - perhaps the most valuable work trip I have taken.
• Appreciate the opportunity to meet some incredible people.
• Where are DOE and DOD??
• A "downtime afternoon" would be nice; more free time in the evenings.
